Guitar Hero

Production:
The developers of Guitar Hero were originally Harmonix (from 2005-2006) but was taken over by Neversoft (from 2006 - present).
The publishers of Guitar Hero from 2005-2008 were originally RedOctane, however since 2007 Activision has become the publisher.
The funding for Guitar Hero would be mainly from RedOctane.

What console was the game made for?
The first console Guitar Hero was made for was the Playstation 2 but over the past five years it has been made available to other consoles such as the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Nintendo DS

Marketing:
What was the marketing strategy?
Social marketing, it had good reviews, to encourage people to buy it, in the t.v advertisements they used famous people to help sell it.

What was the target audience for Guitar Hero?
People who have a keen interest in music and the guitar in particular, also people who want to be able to play the guitar but dont have the time or skills to learn it. Guitar hero easily gets the audience feeling like they are a "rock and roll" star.

TV adverts:
Use of celebrities, such as; Heidi Klum, David Archuter, Kobe Bryant, David Hero etc.
Famous people are used to encourage normal people to have a go at doing it as people want to be like them.
The adverts for world tour are in the same location but have different people doing them this gives variation, so that it gets interest from different people.
The TV advertisements promote the idea that anyone can do the game and that everyone enjoys it.

Distribution:
How could you get hold of the game?
You can buy the game of amazon or in various stores, such as toys r us, hmv etc.

How did you pay for it?
Buy the guitar and the game, then you can buy any added game you want, you can download new songs, which you have to pay for, if you have Guitar Hero on ps3 or xbox 360

Consumption:
Multiplayer, world tour includes a drum-kit and a microphone so that 3 people can play at a time.

User created content, world tour allows users to create new songs through the "music studio mode" , these can then be uploaded and shared through a service known as GH tunes.
